CJ takes notice of police failure to nab culprits

LAHORE - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on Friday taking first suo moto notice of 2010 against Sheikhupura police failure in arresting killers of daughter a lawyer.
The Chief Justice took notice on a news item appeared in an Urdu daily stating that despite lapse of 24 days the police remained failed to arrest killers of Miss Nabeera Irshad, daughter of Muhammad Irshad Malik advocate. According to the news item the deceased was killed by dacoits as a result of resistance.
Because of police failure in arresting culprits there was a great resentment amongst people of the area particularly the lawyers’ community, it added.
Chief Justice summoned DPO Sheikhupura and SHO concerned along with complete record for Jan 6.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on Friday adjourned hearing of a suo moto notice against police for letting off murderers of a B.Com student, the only brother of five sisters.
Earlier, SP Investigation of Airport police Rawalpindi told the court that one of the accused persons, who happened to be nephew of PML-N Senator Mushahidullah, had been arrested while the other will be nabbed soon.
Following this assurance the Chief Justice adjourned hearing till Jan 15. The CJ had taken notice on a news item appeared in a national Urdu daily stating that Syed Jawad-ud-Din was murdered over an old enmity. It alleged that airport police Rawalpindi registered a case in this regard but let off the culprits within half an hour.
