LAHORE - Despite the release of two doctors on bail, strike of medical practitioners in all the government hospitals entered into second day here on Saturday leaving behind hundreds of patients at the mercy of God.

The doctors released include Senior Registrar of Services Hospital Dr Waseem Shafqat and owner of Meditest Laboratory Farrukh Raza. The doctors’ spokesman claimed that release of doctors came after the intervention of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

As the strike continued, the outdoor departments of all the public hospitals remained closed. However, emergency departments continued functioning. Three protest demonstrations were staged at Services Hospital, Ganga Ram Hospital and Jinnah Hospital. Protestors holding up placards and banners raised slogans demanding the release of their colleagues. Police had arrested three doctors involved in administering unhealthy blood to one patient causing his instant death.
