Jeweller's murder during robbery sparks violence
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER September 3, 2008 LAHORE - Crime against the property has tremendously increased in the city as another citizen was shot dead by the robbers at Walton Road, which sparked violence in the area when scores of locals gathered and blocked the road for traffic.
The furious people gathered on the Walton Road, pelted stones on police and also damaged properties including vehicles during the protest against the killing of a jeweller by the robbers.
Interestingly, most of the people who took part in the agitation were those who had no relation with the deceased but joined the protest, as they were furious over the tremendous surge in the crime ratio in the city. Later local traders also joined the agitation after closing their business and shops giving tough time to the heavy contingent of police which reached there to control law and order situation.
The police were looking miserably helpless in bringing the wrath of the protestors down when it tried to negotiate with them but the angry locals flatly refused and started pelting stones on the police also.
