LAHORE - Awami Muslim League head Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has asked President Pervez Musharraf to reinstate deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to close the chapter of politics on judges issue being exploited by both the political parties in coalition government to hoodwink the masses.
He was addressing worker’s convention after inaugurating party office here on Sunday. Party’s Punjab President Syed Fariq Hussain Bukhari, general secretary Farooq Malik, Lahore President Mian Qadeer Ahmed, secretary information Dr Nabila Tariq were present on the occasion. “As soon as judges issue ends, they would have nothing in their hands to keep grasping public attention to survive in political arena,” Sh Rashid said.
He deplored that country was standing at the brink of bankruptcy while both the political parties were indulged in playing politics on judges issue.
He claimed that Pakistan had become a sandwich and predicted that next three months were very important. He suggested the PPP and PML-N to make decisions in the greater national interest. He called Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani as cat’s paw who not only lost his grace in the country but also earned disgrace during his recent US visit. He came hard on foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi for dreaming the reunion of Pakistan and India.
