LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said delay in the execution of development projects will not be tolerated and those responsible for delay despite release of funds will be held accountable for causing loss of billions of rupees to national exchequer through their criminal negligence.

“Financial bungling of Rs 13 billion has been detected in the audit of only 74 Town Municipal Administrations so far which is a clear proof of loot and plunder of the former government,” he said, while giving a direction for constituting a cabinet sub-committee for identifying departments and individuals guilty of causing loss to the public exchequer through delay in implementation of uplift projects. The committee will submit its report after inspection of all incomplete projects.

Shahbaz Sharif issued these instructions, while presided over a meeting of provincial cabinet, here on Monday, which considered various matters including incomplete development projects, food stamp scheme and audit of local bodies as well as other issues.
