Source: Our Staff Reporter October 4, 2008

It is important to mention here that the tandoors situated in the posh localities of the City are selling roti at Rs 5.  According to the official sources, the govt would continue subsidy on flour to the Nan bais to ensure the sale of roti at Rs 2.  They further said that the govt would supply at least 62,000 flour bags to the tandoors at Rs 250 per 20-kg bag on daily basis to provide cheap roti to the poor.

Meanwhile, the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore Sajjad Ahmed Bhutta took strong notice of the suspension of flour supply to the tandoor owners.

According to an official handout issued on Saturday, the DCO issued show cause notices to TMO Gulberg Sultan Mahmood and TOR Zahid and ordered departmental action against them for suspension of flour supply to the tandoors situated in their area.

The DCO also issued warning to the Town Municipal Officers (TMOs) that they would be held responsible if adequate and on time flour supply would not be ensured in their towns.

He also warned the magistrates that strict action would be taken against them if roti would be sold above Rs 2 in their jurisdiction.
