Hoti asks officials for speedy relief efforts
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER August 6, 2008 Hoti added federal, provincial and district governments were jointly working to provide maximum relief to the affectees. He said the federal government had also provided tents and blankets.
The Chief Minister hailed the efforts of the district government in mitigating the sufferings of the flood affectees and appealed to the NGOs, welfare organisations and philanthropists to come forward and play their role in that regard.
He said when the news of floods reached him, he personally visited the affected areas and witnessed the rescue activities and directed for launching relief activities. He said first of all, relief camps were established in government buildings and stranded people were being shifted to safer places and then relief goods were delivered to them on the first day of the natural disaster.
The Chief Minister said there was no compensation of life losses, however, the provincial government would mitigate the sufferings of the affected people to some extent and would announce reward for the families who lost their beloved ones during the calamity.
