LAHORE-The Pakistan People’s Party observed Black Day on July 5 (Saturday) as a token of protest against the overthrow of of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s government by Ziaul Haq in 1977.

In Lahore, the PPP leaders paid glowing tributes to the party’s founding leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed and his daughter Benazir Bhutto Shaheed in a seminar held at Lahore Press Club on Saturday.

Punjab Revenue Minister Haji Muhammad Ishaq, MPA Qasim Zia, PPP Punjab General Secretary Ghulam Abbas, party’s Lahore President Azizur Rehman Chan, PPP’s CEC member Malik Mushtaq Awan and other party office-bearers addressed the seminar.

The leader also endorsed all the initiatives taken by PPP’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and termed these in the best interest in the country as well as the entire democratic process. They also vowed to end dictatorship from the country for ever, saying they would not allow the history to repeat itself.

They also criticized Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaaf chairman Imran and Jamaat-e-Islami for their adverse remarks against the largest political party (PPP) of the country and its top leadership. Some PPP leaders also criticised the PML-N for not observing the day without naming it.

Addressing the party workers, Qasim Zia said the martyrdom of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, and their supreme sacrifices for the rights of people, restoration of democracy, supremacy of constitution and the parliament would be remembered for ever.
