Eid is for children
By By M A Niazi October 5, 2008 So many times I’ve heard it said that “Eid is for children” that I’ve come to believe it. But this Eid I’ve come to believe in it thoroughly. Even though this time we celebrated three Eids, as opposed to the traditional two, and in Lahore itself we celebrated two Eids. But the real Eid was when my daughter, who is one, put on her first gharara. It was purple, and I have never seen anyone take more pride in new clothes. She Whose Word Is Law had worked very hard and made sure that everyone of us had new clothes. But our youngest had a gharara for the first time. Which she refused to take off. As she is not toilet trained, and as disposable diapers are not as efficient as they should be, we had a mishap, which I will not describe out of regard for people’s breakfasts. Well, our youngest waited for the gharara to be washed so that she could wear it again, along with a natural change of diaper.
