Lawyers meet today to decide strategy

A senior lawyer privy to the development said, a final decision would be taken about what should be the future strategy of lawyers’ movement. He said, “One of the suggestions is to hold countrywide lawyers’ conventions to which Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry will address as he did in the past.” He pointed out that this time this campaign might be started from interior Sindh. He further said to launch a second ‘long march’ towards Islamabad could not be ruled out and this option would also come under consideration in the meeting.

He dismissed the government’s propaganda that lawyers’ movement had gone with the wind, saying in fact it had lost its momentum due to the holy month of Ramazan and now it would touch new heights again.

It is pertinent to mention here that the most of presidents of interior Sindh’s bars belong to Pakistan People’s lawyers Forum and it would be interesting to see how they behave once CJ announce to visit their bars. Ten out of 14 deposed judges of Sindh High court had already been re-appointed after they took fresh oath while Justice Sabih-ud-Din had been elevated to the Supreme Court.
