CDG plans to regularise all marriage halls

By YASIR HABIB KHAN August 7, 2008

LAHORE - The City District Government Lahore is planning to regularise all marriage halls which are still unregistered to implement one-dish policy and to bring them under tax network, The Nation learnt here on Wednesday.

Well-placed sources revealed that the CDGL started contemplating to regularise the unregistered wedding halls after a number of complaints began pouring into the DCO office that unregistered banquet halls which sprang up in every nook and corner had been making sheer violation of the one-dish policy.

People also complained that owners of the unregistered marriage halls claimed openly that they were not bound to pursue the one-dish policy, as their wedding halls were not registered, the sourced maintained.

The CDGL, the sources said, would ask the local government department to make legislation for the regularisation of the wedding halls.
