Power outages continue to hurt citizens
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER October 6, 2008 LAHORE - Unabated power breakdowns continued to hurt the citizens mainly because of hot weather and partly due to cut in water releases to hydel plants for power generation.
Officials in the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) said that due to reduction in water releases from Tarbela Dam by the Indus River System Authority, PEPCO was facing a scarcity of 1,000MW in power generation coupled with 1,500MW shortfall owing to the hot climate, amounting to power shortage of 2,500MW.
