Source: Our Staff Reporter October 6, 2008

The director general LDA while briefing the meeting about illegal plazas informed that Supreme Court had constituted a three members commission for inspection of high-rise buildings. He said that the commission inspected 451 buildings and submitted report about 299 buildings to the Supreme Court. The commission had also recommended demolition of 45 illegally constructed buildings.

The Chief Minister said that illegally constructed plazas and high-rise buildings are causing a number of problems for the people including heavy traffic jams and wastage of time. He said that due to haphazard construction most of the city roads have become impassable and the department concerned which allowed construction of these illegal plazas was equally guilty of this crime.

He said that despite identification of 45 illegal plazas and no stay order was obtained on the part of LDA to demolish these buildings.
