Lawyers, parties rally for judges' return

LAHORE - Hopeful Lawyers and political activists of different parties on Thursday held a joint protest rally sensing victory of their long struggle in the form of impeachment of Pervez Musharraf and restoration of deposed judges.

They were saying that withdrawal of notification of eight judges of Sindh High Court was also due to the pressure of lawyers’ movement.

Following the call of the Pakistan Bar Council, the city lawyers held their weekly protest rally from Lahore High Court to Punjab Assembly Building and observed a partial boycott of courts. Lahore Bar Association (LBA) could not take out rally from Aiwan-e-Adl due to one month vacation in subordinate courts. LBA office-bearers, however, joined the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) general house meeting and participated in the rally. Some office-bearers of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Lahore Tax Bar Association also joined the meeting.
