Govt committed to promote technical education: Shahbaz
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER November 7, 2008 LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the government is committed to promote technical education in the province and effective measures are being taken in this regard so that maximum number of manpower could be prepared which will not only play its important role in the progress and prosperity of the country but will also become a source of earning foreign exchange.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting held for the promotion of technical education in the province at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here on Friday. Members Punjab Assembly, Ch Javed Ahmad, Rana Muhammad Arshad, Chairman P&D, Chairman Technical and Vocational Training Authority. (TEVTA), Secretary Schools, Secretary TEVTA, representatives of private sector and board members were also present on the occasion.
He said that TEVTA will be activated and its curriculum would be harmonized with the latest demands besides preparing manpower, keeping in view the needs of industrial institutions. He directed TEVTA to formulate effective and comprehensive recommendations for modernising the curriculum and promotion of technical education, keeping in view the ground realities and submit it within ten days.
The chief minister said that promotion of technical education is need of the hour for the uplift of the province. He said that technical education would have to be set on modern lines and TEVTA would have to be reorganised in this regard in order to achieve the desired results by improving its performance.
