4 dacoits, policeman killed in Lahore encounter

Four dacoits and an ASI were killed in an counter near Sagian bridge in Lahore on Thursday. According to police, the encounter began when police, after receiving some tip-off about presence of criminals, raided the Dera of UC Nazim Sandah Azam near Sagian Bridge. The armed dacoits opened fire after seeing the police. Four dacoits were killed and Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Akram martyred in the shootout. The deceased ASI was resident of Vehari. One robber killed in the encounter was identified as Iqbal. CCPO Lahore Parvez Rathor also reached the scene. He said that Police had received information about presence of criminal elements at the dera of UC Nazim in the past also.
