Essential sacrifices
By By Amal Shakeb October 8, 2008 Natural disasters have affected many throughout the world. Even the superpower America couldn’t save itself from the Rita and Katrina hurricanes. It couldn’t plan a war against them. What would it be, a war against natural disasters? A war against God? For being cruel to Americans; for terrorising them and killing them?
If there is a war against terror why can’t there be a war against disasters? Both terrorism and disasters involve killings of people. Of course that war would have to be initiated by none other than America, and joining hands would be all disaster-stricken nations, including Pakistan and all the tsunami-hit areas of the Far East. But the only question is whom would they join their forces against? Maybe all the bearded men who pray to God? Their prayers might be responsible for these curses.
After all, in a war lies the solution of all deaths. That is what America has taught us. Only death can avenge death. One soul for another soul, but this trade is not followed by this rule when the dead person is an American. An American soul equals hundreds of other Muslim souls. That is what we learnt after the attack on the World Trade Center where many died, but to avenge the death of those many, many more have died till now, and continue to die. And they will keep on dying until the WTC tragedy is thoroughly avenged.
