PU policy for affiliated colleges contradictory

By Rana Latif October 8, 2008

LAHORE - The new admission policy of the Punjab University (PU) for session 2008-09 for the affiliated colleges was not only contradictory to its policy in the semester system particularly for second shift but also marked with ambiguity. As against 24 years of age limit for admission in the morning classes in semester system, age limit of 26 years was mandatory in annual system for admission in MA, MSc, in affiliated colleges. The admission policy was also silent on the age limit for students of second shift, which created controversies.

The PU administration also gave a tight schedule of admission putting the students and the college administration in trouble. As such the admission schedule could not be followed in a number of colleges while others worked in hectic manner.

The admission started on September 4 and closed on September 13 while the classes commenced on September 15. The students had to submit the application forms duly completed and supported by documents while the administration had to set date for scrutiny of application forms, entry test and interviews of hundreds of students within a short span of one week.
