No teachers training course this summer

LAHORE - The election 2008 and ensuing political uncertainty put many issues and development on the back burner, including the much-trumpeted teachers training this year.

The election process and subsequent formation of government took almost six months to complete. The elections were announced to be held on Jan 6 but later held on February 18 in which the ruling party suffered a crushing defeat and delay in formation of coalition government was a heavy toll on the country.

This summer from May to June there was no teachers training, usually a ripe time for the exercise due to summer vacations when the teachers are free. Executive Director Staff Development Directorate (DSD) Dr Rukhsana Zia, however, said slackness would be covered by formulating an action plan to arrange teachers training in September this year.

She said approximately 2,00,000 teachers and head teachers are imparted training during the year and this target will be achieved before the end of the current year.
