CM for improvement in healthcare system

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has called upon young doctors to supplement their efforts for the provision of modern treatment facilities to the poor masses and improvement of healthcare system. He said like other sectors, politicians, bureaucracy and the persons concerned were responsible for the poor state of affairs in health sector.
He was addressing a function held in honour of students of Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) who had won medals in different examinations at Chief MinisterĘs Secretariat, here on Tuesday. Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, MPAs Dr Saeed Elahi, Dr Asad Ashraf, Secretary Health Fawad Hassan Fawad, Vice-Chancellor University of Health Sciences Hussain Mubashar Malik, Chairman Board of Management Mehboob Iqbal, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof Javed Akram, teachers and students were also present.
The CM awarded Mian Muhammad Sharif Gold Medal and a cash prize of Rs 0.1 million to a student of AIMC, Muddasar Ali Roomi for his outstanding performance. Similarly, he announced cash prizes of Rs0.3 million, Rs0.2 million and Rs0.1 million for the top position holders of AIMC in 2008 exams.
Principal AIMC Dr Javed Akram presented a model of the cultural heritage of Punjab and a shield to the chief minister. Earlier, Principal AIMC and Prof Zaffar Chaudhry in their welcome address paid rich tributes to chief minister Punjab for his efforts for the provision of treatment facilities to the people of the province. The CM made an appeal to young doctors to try to find ways and means for the improvement of healthcare system as it will be a great service to the people of Punjab as well as the whole country.
