Every MP gets 8,000 Income Support Programme forms

LAHORE-Every member of Senate and National Assembly has been given eight thousand (each) application forms of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) under which 3.5m deserving families would get one thousand rupees per month. The women MPs elected on reserved seats would distribute their share of forms thorough party organisations.

This was stated by PPP MNA and Chairperson, BISP, Farzana Raja while addressing a news conference at Governor’s House here on Sunday.

She told reporters that current allocation of Rs 34 billion for the BISP would be doubled in the second phase, as seven million families would benefit from this scheme. The PPP government, she said, was contemplating to give legal cover to this programme through an act of the parliament to make it a permanent feature of every future government.

The PPP leader said that BISP has been initiated to implement party manifesto of providing bread to the people living below poverty line. The application forms have been issued to all legislators irrespective of their party affiliation, she added.
