ASI, 4 dacoits killed in encounter
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER October 9, 2008 A team of policemen headed by the DSP Anti-vehicles Lifting Squad comprising SHO Rashid Amin Butt and ASI Muhammad Akram besides others was constituted to conduct raid at the Dera of the UC Nazim.
A police source said that the team had reached the site late night on Wednesday and surrounded the entire vicinity. Police officials preferred to wait till Thursday morning as the criminals could take advantage of the darkness for escape from the spot.
A heavy contingent of police was also called at the spot and all the policemen took positions.
On Thursday morning, some policemen including ASI Muhammad Akram tried to enter the Dera when they found no movement from inside.
The criminals seeing them suddenly opened fire on the police. Resultantly, the ASI received critical bullet injuries and was immediately rushed to the Mayo Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
