Pakistan was not created for army generals: Nizami

Jama’t-ud-Da’wah Pakistan has spent 1.429 billion rupees to date on the relief and rehabilitation of quake-affected people, says a press release issued here on Thursday. 6,000 fiber and metal sheet houses were constructed and handed over to quake affected families; 315 masajid (mosques), 215 schools and 20 tent villages were also set up for the quake affected people.

Medical treatment was provided to no less than 375,000 people in the quake affected areas. Dry rations were distributed among 343,000 families, while 60,000 metal sheets were distributed for construction of houses. Around 25,000 Jama’t-ud-Da’wah volunteers took part in this relief effort.

According to the details, 1.429 billion rupees were spent on medicines, medical equipment, and medical relief, food, setting up of tent villages, reconstruction and rehabilitation, sacrificial meat distribution program, and provision of clothing and bedding for affected individuals and families after the October 8, 2005 devastating earthquake. Jama’t-ud-Da’wah’s Idarah Khidmat-e-Khalq was the first organization to begin relief activities after the quake.
