LAHORE - Justice Khalil Ahmad of the Lahore High Court has directed Edhi Welfare Centre, Lahore to produce a suckling baby boy in the court on August 15 whom his father had abandoned at Township centre after having a quarrel with his wife.

The judge also directed the petitioner to provide a return air ticket to Edhi’s official to bring the baby back from their Karachi head office.

The judge passed this order on a habeas corpus filed by Sana Butt, a resident of Rana Town, Shahdara, seeking recovery of her six-month son Usman Butt from the custody of Edhi Welfare.

The petitioner submitted that she married Imran Butt three years ago and had a child. She said she had a quarrel with her husband who, with a view to take revenge on her, snatched the minor from her and took away to some unknown place. She said she with the help of her relatives left no stone unturned to trace the whereabouts of her suckling baby but all in vain.
