Marriage hall owners torture man to death

LAHORE - Owners of a marriage hall allegedly tortured a man to death over a minor dispute in a wedding ceremony at Badami Bagh area here on Saturday.

The victim identified as Muhammad Arshad, 40, was resident of Samanabad area and father of six children.

Tailor by profession, Arshad was attending the wedding ceremony of his nephew, Alia, who was also present in the marriage hall when the incident took place.

Police said the marriage hall’s owner Muhammad Aslam and his accomplices attacked Arshad with clubs and iron rods after a minor scuffle between them.

Quoting victim family members, the police said Arshad got furious when the owner of the marriage hall, Aslam, teased some women present in the ceremony and exchanged hot words with him.

Aslam and his accomplices injured him with repeated strikes of clubs and iron rods. Arshad was rushed to the Mayo Hospital with critical head injuries where doctors pronounced him dead.
