IJT organises book fair on footpath

LAHORE - Islami Jamiat Tulaba organised the book fair according to its programme Tuesday at the footpath on Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam opposite to the PU Old Campus in protest following the suspension of academic activities of the university for three days. The IJT also displayed banners and posters carrying slogans against restriction on the book fair. A heavy police contingent cordoned off the book fair.

PU IJT nazim Zahid Naveed, PU ASA president Dr Mumtaz Salik, Hafiz Salman Butt and IJT Pakistan nazim Attique-ur-Rehman jointly inaugurated the fair. At this occasion a large number of students gathered who also chanted slogans against the PU administration. They demanded immediate restoration of normal academic activities. Speaking on the occasion Salman Butt said the restriction was imposed on the instance of Governor Punjab. As many as 15 bookstalls were set up at the fair.

The IJT nazim Zahid Naveed announced to organise a book march today (Wednesday) at Old Campus and Sharah-e-Quaid-e-Azam to press the demand to hold the book fair.
