Hospital doctors 'kidnap' female NGO worker
By ASIF CHAUDHRY September 14, 2008 LAHORE - A group of house job doctors of the Mayo Hospital kidnapped and locked a female NGO worker in a room of pediatric department for not responding to the mobile phone ‘SMS’ and calls of a male doctor who had a crush on her. They harassed and threatened her of dire consequences if she complained to police or the hospital administration.
The doctors later snatched her cash, purse, and personal documents besides a costly digital camera. The incident triggered fear and insecurity among other lady doctors of the hospital.
The female social worker was later rescued by the local police, which immediately intervened on her emergency call and shifted her to a safe place while the doctors managed to escape from the spot.
A hospital source said the hospital management and the assailant doctors were putting pressure on the lady worker and her family to withdraw her application, which she had lodged in the local police station against the doctors.
