Independence Day celebrated: Govt determined to bring real democracy: Shahbaz

LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that had Dr Qadeer and Dr Samar Mubarak not made country atomic power today the Quaid’s Pakistan would have been engulfed by its enemies and the services of these scientists are commendable.
He expressed these views while addressing Independence Day ceremony held here at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehreek-e-Pakistan under the aegis of Nazria-e-Pskistan Trust on Thursday.
Editor-in-Chief Nawa-i-Waqt and The Nation and Chairman Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust, Majid Nizami, Vice Chairman NPT Professor Dr Rafique Ahmad, Justice (r) Ilyas, Afifa Mamdot, JA Zaman, Begum Surayya Khurshid, Amjad Hameed Dasti, MNA, Sakeena Shaheen, Col (r) Zahoor-ul-Haq and a good number of Tehreek-e-Pakistan activists and school children were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister speaking on the occasion said Pakistan was achieved by rendering million of sacrifices to provide justice and rights to the people equally but it is unfortunate that the dream of our leaders could not be materialised and today injustice, malpractices, corruption, qabza group and plundering are rampant in the society. But, he maintained, govt is determined to introduce real democracy and provide justice to the people.
He said previous rulers brought the country to the brink of disaster during last eight years and looted the national resources ruthlessly, he added. He said that instead of spending money on the welfare of the people, Chief Minister’s Secretariat was built at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion.
