City to have 5 new parks, 14 playgrounds
By YASIR HABIB KHAN October 14, 2008 LAHORE - The PHA has launched an action plan under which two biggest parks spreading 1,000 kanal in Johar Town and 480 kanal along river Ravi will be developed, besides three parks and 14 play grounds which will be developed in different localities, specially less-privileged areas.
The action plan will also rehabilitate playgrounds and parks that have been left unattended and neglected. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has issued Rs 100 million grant in this regard. The Punjab government has already allocated Rs 243 million for the implementation of this plan which the PHA authorities claim will change the landscape of the City. The PHA has already 1,139 big and small sized parks under its administrative control.
Under the new plan which the PHA claimed has already begun, as many as 14 playgrounds will be developed at different places including TEVTA parks Shahdarah, near petrol pump Shahdarah, near Ghora Hospital Shahdarah, D-I Block Gujjar Pura, D-Block Sabzazar Scheme, near Ittefaq Hospital Model Town, D-II Block MA Johar Town, E-Block Gulshan Ravi, Kashmir Block AIT, Mehran Block AIT, Chenab Block AIT and new Chouburgi Township. Three parks including Ladies Park, D-I Sector Green Town, and Railway Line at Qazi Park Shahdarah Town, near Maqbara Jahangir Shahdarah Town will also be developed under this plan.
