Special campaign against terror to be launched: Shahbaz
October 14, 2008 LAHORE (PPI) - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that terrorism and other serious threats confronting the country would be discussed in a special session of Punjab Assembly; whereas ‘Shuhda Conference’ would be arranged in the memory of those who had lost their lives in suicide attacks. Families of the victims of terrorist activities would also participate in the conference. A national conference of Ulema will also be held for the elimination of terrorism and extremism from the country as well as promotion of national unity and brotherhood.
He said that an extensive campaign will be launched in print and electronic media for promoting public awareness about terrorism and special seminars, symposiums and debates will be held in this regard. Participation of people will be ensured in these events, he added.
He was addressing a high level meeting held to review the recommendations of special committee constituted for law and order and eradication of terrorism, at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here Tuesday. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Media Advisor to Chief Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Advisor to Chief Minister Jahanzeb Burki, Member National Assembly Sahibzada Fazal Karim, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and senior officers of concerned departments were present.
