LAHORE - Former Finance Minister and Senator Ishaq Dar has said that China is very much willing to set up a ‘Chinese Export Zone’ in the Punjab province in collaboration with the Punjab govt to promote business activities and investment in the country.

“The govt of Punjab and China are to create Chinese Export Zone in the Punjab. The Chief Minister Punjab is very actively working on this idea. It will create a lot of economic opportunities and potential in the province,” Dar told leading businessmen and industrialists here late on Saturday night.

Ishaq Dar was addressing the business community at a dinner hosted in honour of the corporate-class candidates of the PIAF-Founders Alliance contesting the forthcoming elections of Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Dar also grilled the federal government’s economic polices and the IMF loan programme and explained to the businessmen why the PML-N had to quit the federal cabinet.

Ishaq Dar, who is also member of the Senate Committee on Finance, said that budget deficit and trade deficit is the fundamental problem of the country. “These twin deficits are our fundamental problem, which is multiplying with every passing day,” he added.
