Lawyers say movement enters decisive phase
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER June 18, 2008 Lawyers are up in arms not only for the reinstatement of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other judges deposed on November 3 but also to end the eight years long dictatorial rule in the country. The protest which culminated into a long march last week, is about to meet success, said Chairman Pakistan Judicial Crisis Management Committee, Shafqat Mahmood Chauhan, while addressing a press conference along with President Lahore Tax Bar, Mahsin Nadeem and others here Tuesday.
Chauhan describing November 3 action another marital law in the country said, it was the courage of Justice Chaudhry who challenged the unconstitutional authority of a dictator and lawyers and the civil society stood up with him to break the shackles of eight years long military rule on the nation. He said it was the peaceful movement of the lawyers which won them respect in the world and success in the long march.
