LAHORE - Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif could not reach a complete consensus on Balochistan Package and the same was the case in the meeting of premier with elected representatives of Balochistan.
Speakers belonging to various political parties expressed these views on Tuesday while addressing the participants of a debate on “Government’s Package on Balochistan” which was held under the auspices of Daily Nawai-i-Waqt, The Nation and Waqt News Channel at Hameed Nizami Hall.
Speakers who have took part in the debate included Liaquat Baloch, General Secretary, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Ehsan Wayne, Secretary General Awami National Party (ANP), Shahzain Bugti, Central Chief Coordinator, Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) and Allama Zubair Ahmed Zaheer, Central Vice President, Jamiat Ahle-i-Hadith.
They said if the government wanted to win the confidence of the leadership of Balochistan, it should get the consent of the heirs of Baloch leaders, Sardar Khair Bhukush Marri, Sardar Atta Ullah Mengal and Nawab Akbar Bugti.
Speakers said that government instead of satisfying the people of Balochistan, has announced “Aghaz-i-Haqooq-i-Balochistan” that was equal to playing with their sentiments.
They demanded that Balochistan should be given autonomy promised in the Constitution of 1973 and the concurrent list should be abolished; Baloch people should be given the right over the mineral resources, which is part of their land.
They further demanded that the confidence of the Baloch people should be restored, Pervez Musharraf be tried under Article (6), missing persons should be recovered and decision on National Finance Commission should be taken with the consensus of all provinces.
