Universities asked to provide digital copy of each PhD thesis

LAHORE - Higher Education Commission has asked all the universities of the country to provide it a digital or computerised copy of the theses submitted by the students doing M Phil or PhD, sources in the HEC confided to The Nation here on Saturday.

The sources said the HEC also directed universities managements to take undertaking from the students before staring their thesis for the degree of PhD wherein they should be warned that in case of plagiarising their degree would be cancelled and they would have no right to move court. An Islamabad based officer of the HEC seeking anonymity said the HEC was uploading all the theses done by the PhD students on its website so that an automatic check could be established and these theses would be open for all and in case of plagiarism each thesis would be checked by the website visitors.
