PPP Punjab supports Zardari as President

“It is a historical day. PPP has come a long way to this moment to announce its candidate for the post of President of Pakistan. It is the right of the PPP since it is country’s largest political party having representation in all the four provinces and at federal level. Asif Ali Zardari will be a civilian president enjoying support of all the four provinces. The central executive committee will meet on Friday (today) and our demand for Zardari’s nomination would be made there,” Taseer said.

“The election of Zardari as President would be a great victory for Pakistan and the democracy as well,” he was of the view.

“Now it’s up to Asif Zardari whether he names another person for the slot. However, the Punjab PPP wants him to be the next President of Pakistan,” he said while replying to a query.
