CM calls for producing at least 5,000 PhDs a year

The chief minister said that as ‘Servant’ he has visited far-flung areas of the province where he also inspected primary schools and witnessed that their condition was deplorable. Where the foreign aid received during last eight years was utilized, he questioned? He said that not only the former rulers looted the national resources ruthlessly but also constructed palatial secretariat but we will have to utilize national resources with honesty and spend all the resources for the promotion of education, as had been done by other developed nations.

He said that effective measures have been taken by the present government for the uplift of education and model schools are being set up at teshil level at a cost of three billion rupees while computer labs are also being established in more than four thousand high schools with the cost of four billion rupees. He said that steps are being taken for the uplift of other sectors beside education. He said that salaries of judges of subordinate courts have been increased three times for which an additional budget of one billion rupees has to be allocated so that talented, honest and hard working judges should join this sector for ensuring timely justice to the masses. He said that Punjab Govt wanted to improve the standard of all the colleges and universities of the province.

He said that VC Punjab University should prepare comprehensive recommendations in this regard and Punjab govt will extend all out support for the betterment of Punjab University.
