PHA launches parks adoption project
By YASIR HABIB KHAN November 23, 2008 LAHORE - The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has decided in principle to run all big parks in the city with the collaboration of public-private partnership under “Park Adoption Project” being initiated on special directives of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, The Nation learnt.
The PHA will invite multinational companies and financing institutions to join hands to improve the beautification as well as recreational facilities in parks.
The selected companies will bear all expenses to be incurred for looking after the parks. They will allocate funds for building up new infrastructure to develop recreational sectors besides renovating different portions of the parks. The authority concerned will allow the approved company to advertise its products in special corners to be established in the parks. To apprise about the suggestion of public, complaint boxes will be installed at all the entry gates of the parks. PHA has also decided to establish the “Gupshup Pavilions” for the intellectuals and journalists in the parks.
