He also directed constitution of a special committee headed by Chief Secretary Punjab which will hold its meeting at 7:00 am daily during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak to review all matters including the prices and availability of daily use items and submit its report to Chief Minister. Chief Minister also directed to accelerate the pace of distribution of support money under Food Stamp Scheme so that deserving families could benefit during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister said that supply of essential items on reasonable prices during Ramazan is responsibility of the government and all possible steps would be taken in this regard. He said government would provide subsidy for supplying 20-kg atta bag at Rs 300 and government would bear additional financial burden in this regard. He said that provision of dates, pulses, ghee and other daily use items on cheaper rates during Ramazan ul Mubarik is our moral duty. He said in order to regulate the prices of essential items, committees have been constituted at district level whereas Chairman Task Force would also monitor this process.

He directed Home Secretary that strict steps should be taken to check the smuggling of atta during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and smuggling should not take place in any case. He said availability of atta and other eatables in abundance should be ensured at all shops, Jumma and Itwar Bazaars and other places throughout the province during Ramazan-ul-Mabarak.
