Transporters withdraw strike call

LAHORE - Transporters of all the districts of Punjab including Lahore city have unconditionally withdrawn their strike call and will run their transport as per routine on Friday.
This announcement was made at a meeting held between the representatives of transporters and senior officials of provincial transport authority at the Transport House here on Thursday.
As per decision, inter-district air-conditioned and non-air conditioned bus owners and owners of buses, mini-buses and wagons in Lahore district have withdrawn their strike call.
The transporters held separate meetings with Secretary Punjab Provincial Transport Authority Muhammad Iqbal and Secretary Regional Transport Authority Malik Munir Joyia.
Muthida Local Transport Council Lahore president Faiz Rasool Bajwa, vice president Ch Muhammad Jameel, chairman Maj (r) Malik Manzoor Hussain, secretary Ghazanfar Ali Choudhary, Local Mini Bus Ittehad president Pervaiz, vice president Naeem Butt, chairman Mian Javaid Litan-wala, Baba Nabi-Ullah Khan, Muhammad Aslam Bajwa, chairman Urban Bus Transport Association Bashir Hussain Sial, manager Premier Bus Service M Rashid, Maqsood Khan, manager New Khan Bus Service Imtiaz Shah, director Niazi Express Azam Khan Niazi, president Air Conditioned Bus Service Haji Khalid and president Non-AC Bus Service Haji Naseer Butt were present in the meetings.
They assured that there would be no strike on Friday (today) and wheel would keep on moving as per routine. They assured that additional wagons and buses would also be provided in case of need to reject designs of nefarious elements on the day.
Secretary Punjab Provincial Transport Authority and secretary Regional Transport Authority Lahore welcomed the decision of the transporters and said that the government was fully aware of the problems of the transporters and it would redress the same at the earliest.
