Shahbaz suspends MS of Nawaz Sharif Hospital

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has suspended the Medical Superintendent (MS) and a Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) of the Nawaz Sharif Yakki Gate Hospital late on Monday.
He issued these directions during his surprise visit to the Government Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate, Lahore. He also visited the Punjab Dental Hospital and took round of emergency ward and other departments.
Hamza Shahbaz, MPA Dr Asad Ashraf, Khawaja Ahmad Ihsan and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
Shahbaz Sharif expressed his strong resentment over the deteriorating condition of the emergency department of the Nawaz Sharif Yakki Gate Hospital when he witnessed heaps of garbage and stagnant and filthy water, pouring serious threats to the health of the patients and the other visitors in the emergency department.
Interestingly, the main portion of the emergency department was locked when the Punjab Chief Minister visited the hospital. While expressing his strong anger over the situation he directed the hospital officials to broke the locks of the door of the emergency ward. The CM later took round of the other departments and was unhappy over the unhygienic condition of cleanliness and health facilities to the patients. The condition of the operation theater was not up to the mark.
The CM was informed the MS Nawaz Sharif Yakki Gate Hospital used to come late and was not taking interest in the hospital affairs.
Upon inquiring about the deteriorating condition of health in the hospital, the MS told the Punjab Chief Minister that it was all due to the shortage of funds but the CM rejected his (MS) claim saying that the heaps of garbage and stagnant water in the emergency department was showing acute negligence of the hospital management. There is no need of huge funds to remove garbage from the hospital he said and later suspended the MS and the DMS for acute negligence. Shahbaz Sharif said that an emergency meeting of the health department and the Nawaz Sharif Yakki Gate Hospital management should be arranged to bring improvement in the hospital affairs.
