Speakers demand exemplary punishment to Musharraf

LAHORE - PML-N celebrated the completion of one year of Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country after seven years exile with the slogan “Wazir-e-Azam Nawaz Sharif” at a function held at Alhamra here on Tuesday.
PML-N provincial and Lahore leadership headed by senior advisor to CM Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa and MNA Mian Marghoob Ahmed attended the function. A number of MNAs and MPAs including Khawja Saad Rafiq, Hamza Shahbaz, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Ch Abdul Ghafoor, Haji Abdul Manan, Inam Ullah Niazi, Bilal Yaseen besides PML-N additional secretary information Naeem Mir, Nasir Iqbal Khan, Labour Wing (UC-87) chairman Sheikh Sajjad Haider and president Samiuddin were present on the occasion. A large number of workers and local leaders also participated in the function. MSF students raised full-throated slogans while holding up party flags.
Addressing the gathering, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa said that before and after the exile of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif remained a centre of attraction for the people of Pakistan. He said that with the return of Nawaz Sharif to the country an era of dictatorship met its miserable end. He said that it was pitiable that PML-N leadership sowed the seeds of democracy though sacrifices, but PPP-led government could not reap the benefit. He said Musharraf had announced repeatedly that the exile leadership could not come back. But on November 25, Nawaz returned with honour and prestige. As PPP-led govt had failed to pursue the mandate that were given to it on election day, eyes had been set on charismatic personality of Nawaz Sharif.
Khawaja Saad Rafiq said 25th was a historic day and it would be commemorated always. He said, “It is matter of great concern that Musharraf trampled the constitution, muffled the voice of people, snatched the freedom of media and judiciary and sent the popular leadership into exile. He said the party had pledged to continue their struggle until restoration of independent judiciary. “We demand of the government to restore Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry along with other sacked judges immediately and to hang Musharraf for violating the constitution, killing innocent students of Jamia Hafsa and grave human rights violations,” he maintained.
