August 27, 2008

Poet and educationist Shahnawaz Zaidi said the ghazal poetry of Faraz was blended by both the modern as well as traditional spirit. “His ghazal poetry was very popular and many top singers felt honoured to sing them. There may be others who may also inspire us with their ghazals but there is perhaps none that may be able to do so in the realm of revolutionary poetry.

“There are a number of poets like Shahzad Ahmed, Khalid Ahmed, Najeeb Ahmed and Iftikhar Arif that will continue to light up our literary circles with their creations. Most poets continue to experiment with wording and how to ornament things. Few hardly Among the contemporary poets Iftikhar has some element of revolutionary in him like Faraz.     " Emanuel Sarfraz

“Faraz was the one who raised his voiced against dictators. In his poems he spoke about the political turmoil and social issues confronting the nation. Some of his poems were banned and he had to face cases in the court of law. But his was spirit that never wavered in front of dictators and against difficult odds. He created awareness about the political culture and what needed to be changed,” Zaidi explained.
