Getting a new president

By By Amal Shakeb August 28, 2008

Three faces stand in front of us today, one out of which we are going to see very frequently for a very long time in the coming future as the President of our country.

For nine long years we have grown used to just one face as the President, that face was imprinted on our minds with such a thick glue that fixing another face in its place is not yet a very settling idea.

However, as a substitute for Pervez Musharraf, Asif Zardari’s face doesn’t look much different. With his past record, he does not look a very promising candidate to do any good for the country. He does not look like a ray of hope to make the country a better and more peaceful place. His credentials, though different from the ex-President, do not provide much hope for the future.

On the other hand, Mushahid Hussain is a known face. We are familiar with his face since long, but when we think of him as a President, he doesn’t fit quite well in that slot too.

Somehow, he doesn’t have the same aura as of the ex-President and Zardari.
