PML-N, clerks clash mars lawyers' rally
By Amir Riaz November 27, 2008 LAHORE - The lawyers’ Thursday weekly rally was marred with clashes between the activists of PML-N and All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) as the former made furious attempts, punctuated with use of filthy language, to stop clerks from chanting slogans against PML-N leadership.
APCA was staging a protest demonstration against the price-hike and transfer of three hundred clerks to far-flung areas of Punjab.
As APCA rally reached outside the LHC main gate, they started raising full-throated slogans against Shahbaz that irked the party workers gathered there to participate in lawyers’ rally. They rushed towards the clerks and caught hold some of them. However, the police intervened at the right time and saved not only the clerks from PML-N workers but averted the situation from getting worse. The policemen stood between both the sides that kept chanting slogans against each other.
