Shahbaz directs DCOs to set up relief centres
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER July 29, 2008 LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed all District Coordination Officers (DCOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to set up ‘Immediate Relief Centres’ in all districts of the province and provide relief to the people at grass-root level. He further directed them to hold joint open kuctheries in their respective districts at least twice a month.
According to an official handout, the CM issued these instructions while presiding over a joint meeting of National and Provincial Assembly members and district administration at DCO Office Sialkot on Monday.
Shahbaz said that by setting up Immediate Relief Centres at district level and maintaining computerized record of complaints, a permanent system of accountability would be established and an analysis would be carried out of the complaints and relief. He said that concerned DCO and DPO would be held accountable if a complainant was compelled to come to Lahore for redressal of his grievance.
