Zardari not withdrawing from presidential race
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER August 30, 2008 He believed that the process would get completed with election of Asif Ali Zardari as President of Pakistan. Jehangir said that resignation of Pervez Musharraf was a historic event in the sense that for the first time in country’s history an elected government forced a dictator to relinquish power in favour of the parliament. Asif Ali Zardari can claim credit for Musharraf’s ouster, as it was he (Zardari) who maneuvered for his resignation with the help of international forces.
Replying to a question, he said that all judges including Iftikhar Muhammad Ch would be restored in due course of time.
He also criticised senior party leader and President Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan for what he called provoking the lawyers to tear apart the pictures of Asif Ali Zardari and other party leaders. He said party workers have been asked to observe restrain, otherwise they were ready to give a tit-for-tat reply.
