MDA reserves site for Grand Sports Complex in Mirpur

MIRPUR (AJK) – The Mirpur Development Authority, in a bid to encourage sporting activities especially the indoor games, has reserved a site for to establish a world class multipurpose Sports Complex in the city in the near future.
Town planner of the MDA and Management Incharge officer of the international-standard Mirpur Cricket Stadium, Mirza Kaleem Jirral told this scribe that in response to the requirement by AJK Sports Board, MDA has reserved the site of about 20-kanal land at the fast-emerging Mujahid Town, Phase II on Mian Muhammad Road, close to the Mirpur Cricket Stadium for the construction of the grand sports complex.
Mirza Kaleem informed that the land has been allotted and will be formally handed over to the AJK Sports Board for the execution of the construction work of the sports complex project.
The MDA officer pointed out that the AJK Sports Board had demanded only six-kanal of land for the Sports Complex. But since this space was considered to be much lesser for a proper Grand Sports Complex, the MDA decided to reserve and allot the land comprising 20-kanal for the complex.
Kaleem said that the Sports Complex will be comprising a grand gymnasium besides for all out door and indoor games including tennis, badminton, table tennis, football, volleyball etc. He added that this complex, would, indeed, be a grand addition in the mega sports development projects in AJK, especially in this overseas Kashmiris-dominated district opening new vistas for the quality sports contests of local, national and international repute.
