LAHORE - The leading goal scorers of both the teams struck a goal each as Afghan FC overwhelmed PIA 2-1 at Govt High School, Chaman in the 174th match of Pakistan Premier Soccer League.
Earlier, the first leg at Karachi saw Afghans registering one of the most memorable wins in their history with identical scoreline last October at Sharafi Goth.
Afghans, who were in relegation zone alongwith Steel and PEL to join relegated PTV before the match, finally avoided the agony and make sure A-Division Football in 2009.
The first 16 minutes of the match proved to be sensational as all the three goals went into the book. Striker Hayat Ullah, hero in first leg with brace of goals, once again mesmerized the airliners with goal in the 105th seconds. He leapt high above every body to surge Afghans with sweetly-timed header after winger Mehmood Khan swept the ball across the area. The large audience appreciated the lovely play of Mehmood on right gallery who was declared MVP in 19th National U18 Championship last year at Model Town Academy Ground, Lahore.
