Pakistan's poor run continues

SINGAPORE - Pakistan players' miserable run at the inaugural Asian Youth Games continued on Wednesday with athletes failing in table tennis and sailing.
The Pakistan mixed doubles pair of Abeera Alli and Tabish Khurshid were clean swept by their rival teams in their group A team games here at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall on the events opening day.
In sailing event at the National Sailing Centre Pakistan's Muhammad Mustafa Ahmed and Pulwasha Salahuddin Khattak remained at bottom line with Singapore touching the line of honour yet again. China though looked to offer a tough challenge.
Pakistan was drawn in group A of table tennis for a team activity along with China, Thailand, Republic of Korea, Singapore and Japan and on the opening day Pakistan played against Korea and Thailand only to get severe bashing.
Both their ties against them remained one-sided and for not a single moment Abeera and Tabish posed any challenge to their Korean or Thai counterparts. And rather in the group the China team cemented its status as the team to watch with win rather getting with ease.
Pakistan players first played against Thailand and for not a single moment Abeera or Tabish gave tough time to their opponents other than one or two occasions but against Korea there was no resistance.
In the first girls singles, Abeera after some glimpses of good game lost all the three sets to Thailand's Sangpao Areeya 0-3. The Thai girl win by a score of 11-9, 11-1, 11-6. The situation remained the same in the boys singles when Thaliand's P. Suchat moved past Tabish Kuhrshid in yet another one-sided game 3-0 (11-5, 11-4, 11-8)
Already lost the singles, the Pakistan's pair lost the mixed doubles match also to Thongsub Laksika and S. Tanapol. Both these Thai players prevailed over Abeera and Tabish to sweep the whole of the tie and the last game 3-0 (11-4, 11-3, 11-8).
