City Club become Lahore champion

LAHORE - Speedy-winger Mazhar Yaseen did the captaincy job as City Club became the champion of Lahore by overcoming Syed Maududi Institute Club 1-0 in tense final. The final of NBP Lahore Soccer Football Championship was watched by big audience at Garhi Shahue's Railway Stadium last night.
Zobia Rubab Malik, MPA, was the chief guest of the final while Shahzad A. Shami, NBP Regional Business Chief, Central Region, Lahore presided over the function. Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s secretary general Lt Col (r) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, Director Operation Wng Cmdr (r) Pervaiz Saeed Mir, Manager Competition Rauf Bari, former PFF secretary Hafiz Salman But, PRSB's Sports officer Rashad Butt, PRO Manzoor Ali Arif, former national skipper Masood ul Hassan Butt, former FIFA Referees Essa Khan, Arif Siddiqui, national coach Georg Kottan, Lahore District Football Association President Tanveer Zia Butt were also present on this occasion.
They praised the fine display of Mazhar Yaseen and his colleagues. The match was evenly poised at interval with 0-0 scoreline and it stayed scoreless until 79th minute when Mazhar, semi-finalist with Wohaib FC in PFF League (Club Phase) 2009, accelerated onto pass of midfielder Yasir Sohail and fired the ball into left corner.
One of the main features of the final was brilliant refereeing by Muhammad Shams and large fans praised the whistling of Shams who will also supervise matches in coming KASB Pakistan Premier League and PFF League. Shams was supported by Match Commissioner Naseer Awan and Assistants Irshad ul Haq and Muhammad Iqbal.
